I often came across posts about cats passing away on Facebook. Every time I read them, my eyes would well up with tears—and I’d immediately get up to hug my own cat. I’d always felt grateful that Milo, with his tabby cat genes, was strong and healthy from a kitten. I’d thought he’d easily live to be 15 or older. I never expected something like this to happen to him so soon. Today, at 9 a.m. on August 6, 2025, his life came to an end forever at the age of 7. Over these 7 years, we’d been with each other every day; he’d long become family to me.

Duoduo was once a stray, injured and alone. But through unconditional love, he became family. Even when faced with illness, his story became a miracle of resilience and care. This is a heartfelt reminder of the unbreakable bond between pets and the humans who choose them.

I hate myself so much. I hate that I wasn’t at home; I hate that I never took her for a check-up. I loved her so, so, so much—more than I love myself. She was the first cat I ever raised. I got her when I hadn’t even graduated yet.

今では、サラも毎晩寝る時にそれをしっかりと抱きしめ、失くしてしまうのではないかと怯えています。サラがいなくなると、昔撮った写真を見返しますが、そのほとんどにまつわる物語を思い出せません。

夏の夜、廃墟となった果樹園に閉じ込められていた小さな白い犬が、散歩中に偶然発見されました。助けを求めるかすかな鳴き声から、皆で力を合わせて捜索し、低木やヘビの危険を乗り越えて救出、そしてついには犬の家族の一員として迎え入れるまで、これは単なる救助活動ではなく、命と愛の美しい出会いでした。

私たちは涙が止まりませんでしたが、彼女の愛は決して薄れることはないと確信しています。マヤは私たちの心の中で、いつまでも最も美しい思い出として残るでしょう。
